Vampire Orc

This head bust took me 4hrs max. I began by sculpting from as sphere, then pushing and pulling shapes using move, mask and dynamesh. I then start to use the claybuildup brush to lightly sculpting in major landmarks i.e chest, collar bones and basic facial features. Once you start sculpting at the beginning, you dont know what the outcome will be. You slowly begin to form and idea in your head while setup the basic proportions playing with various forms and shapes along the way. Once I captured this bulky, wild and scary look. I continued to detail him by using smooth,  trim dynamic and the Dam standard while climbing the subdivision levels. I realized that he came very close to looking like the pale orc from the Hobbit and the Falmers in Skyrim. - Aaron

Light & Shading

I felt this object to draw was quite difficult. Not only was the shape unusual but the lighting environment itself. When I First started drawing, I kept in mind to keep my values as light as possible so I could slowly build stronger values ontop. As the object was set in a mid ranged lit environment as well as being white, it was hard to pin point lighter to darker areas of the object - being almost an illusion. If I took more time focusing on the lighting than trying to draw the obscured shape, I would have had better results as it threw me off a bit. I also believe that I could put more consideration into my shading as the scratchy lines creates unneeded details. I blame the mechanical pencil and my terrible shading skills...

Here is where I will dump all my 3d sculpts that will be
relevant towards the 3D character brief that I will be choosing.
I love creating sculpts in zbrush. This took me 3-4hrs max. He was originally going to be a generic alien, but realize he needed something more. I added these organic like spikes on his head which slowly evolved into a plant like creature. I present Cacti man!

Computer Arts Practice 3rd year!

Hello and welcome to my CAP blog! This is where the awesome art stuff goes! The first task given in our practical class was to run away for an hour and draw something, focusing on perspective. I decided to be adventurous and go to the macmanus galleries. It was a challenging place to draw as it was a very large, open spaced room with many interesting details. Given the timescale, line work was not important. Overall I believe i did a good job in capturing the scene as a whole, but believe I could of spent more time at the beginning planning out the perspective lines. I could possibly further polish up this drawing and scan into Photoshop for painting over, fixing perspective and generally experimenting. - Aaron
